Keith Goffin has just returned from teaching in Korea at KoreaTech University. This was funded by the Korean Government’s MOT (Management of Technology) programme, which aims to promote the teaching of technology management issues in their universities. It appears that Korea is making a big effort to build on its strength in manufacturing (with companies such as Samsung, LG and Kia) and develop more capabilites for breakthrough product innovation. So there was a lot of interest in his work on hidden needs — identifying customers’ key requirements.
