Nowhere to hide! The implications of Ambient Intelligence

26 01 2011

Heath Cormack of Specsavers sent us the following:

“By 2020 global internet access will have risen to nearly 5 billion users and there will be an expected 22 billion web-connected devices worldwide. Artificial and virtual reality will be embedded in everyday life. Essentially we will be living with ambient intelligence – i.e. Electronic environments, sensitive and responsive to human presence.

Customers are already socially connected in the physical, artificial and virtual domains, and increasingly have the power to influence through Tweets, blog posts, Second life and Layer. For the big brands the need is to proactively collaborate with customers by including them in real and virtual communities, ensuring they form part of ratings and reviews of products and services.

Additionally, the social landscape will change as developing countries begin to adopt, develop, and spawn product improvements via socially connected locations. The commercial implications will be game-changing.”
